This is exactly the reasons we opted for Cfengine. Despite a harder syntax resource consumption is way lower.

You’ll probably want to toss in this where apache is intercepting to preserve the same level of security puppet provides. I think it is much more important than the ACL.

ssl_verify_client required;

Also, those using environments should remember to add
/testing/file_content/files/ or development if appropriate.

@Dieter,

Puppet in its current instance doesn’t really supports managing deep file hierarchies (with file recurse), due to a couple of bugs (one being that puppet tries to md5 checksum all the files, the other one being an inefficiency in managing all the generated events).
The really good news is that we found the problem and I produced two patches that fix those inefficiencies.

I’ve been experimenting with Puppet for a few days now, and have also run into serious issues.
My puppetd has been running at 100% CPU for over a full hour now, without any noticeable sign of anything happening.
Using –debug –verbose –trace but nothing in the log.

My puppet manifests are really simple, just experimenting with the basics.
checksum => undef, so that’s not the issue.

Running latest stable 0.25.4 .

Right now I don’t see puppet ever getting near any production server. My servers need their cycles.

I don’t know Ruby, and I really dispise software I need to debug before use… Many penalty points for Puppet…
